a swimming pool at brindishe green!

From 5th September – 27th November 2011, the Mayor of London’s Make a Splash programme will be visiting Brindishe Green School.

From 5th September – 27th November 2011, the Mayor of London’s Make a Splash programme will be visiting Brindishe Green School. This is a highly unique project, which involves taking mobile 12 metre x 6 metre swimming pools to 12 locations across London between 2011 and 2013. The aim is to get over 1,000 people in each of the 12 areas into the pool to enjoy swimming as part of a healthier, more active lifestyle. The Make a Splash programme is a community legacy of the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

photoEach location for the programme is specifically chosen so that the maximum number of people in target areas benefit, and as such it is a great achievement for Brindishe Green School to have secured the right to host the project in the Borough of Lewisham.

The swimming pool will be located within a specially constructed temporary marquee on Brindishe Green school playground and come with two fully qualified swimming instructors and dry changing rooms for pool users.

During the school day, every day for a term, the pool will be used by children from Brindishe Green and other nearby
schools. It will be open for the local community to use between 4.30pm and 7.30pm on weekdays, and 9.00am and 12.30pm on Saturdays. The pool will be closed on Sundays. All sessions are booked in advance by participants and only registered users of the pool will enter reason to enter the site.

If you would like any more information regarding the project, please visit the programme’s website www.makeasplashlondon.org. We would encourage parents and carers and local residents to take advantage of the programme of community swimming at the pool while it is in place at Brindishe Green.

We are very excited to be able to have this opportunity to help our children and local community to learn to swim – and hope to see you in the pool!
