Pupils make a splash for sunshine week

At Brindishe Green last week, we took part in the launch of ‘Sunshine Week’. We were the first school to ever work with the ‘Variety Club – Children’s Charity’ to raise much needed funds for children who are disadvantaged or disabled.

We were thrilled to use our 'Make a Splash' swimming pool, which we share with our local community and schools, to complete a very special challenge.

Pupils from Year 1 to Year 6 took part in a sponsored ‘walk the length of the English Channel’ in our ‘Make A Splash’ swimming pool over the course of the week. Children used their swimming classes to reach their target and there was a big team effort to raise money and awareness of Sunshine Week. Year 2 started the challenge first thing on Monday morning in groups of 15. They each swam 4 lengths of the pool. This was a tough challenge, and for small children, many of whom are just learning how to swim, this was a real accomplishment.

On Friday, 23rd September, we also had a ‘Sunshine Day’ where every child wore brightly coloured clothes to school to spread a little sunshine and raise a further 50p each for charity!

We are really proud of the children at Brindishe Green for completing their challenge and raising so much money for such a deserving charity. Well done everyone!
