GOLD Rights Respecting School

In June 2021, Brindishe Manor became a Gold Rights Respecting School.

This award recognises schools which make children’s rights a priority. Working with  UNICEF we teach children about their rights and how respect the rights of others. Children learn to understand how important it is for all children and adults to model responsibility and respect in all of their relationships and interactions with each other.

As a rights-respecting school, children learn about their right to learn and they learn how to support their own and others’ learning. Children learn how to make healthy choices and how to look after themselves and others. Adults help children to voice their rights and recognise their responsibilities and as a school community, we listen to and carefully consider children’s voices and ideas.

At Brindishe Schools, we encourage children to make decisions about what happens in school. They are learning to realise the part they can play in making decisions and will also learn how to speak up for the rights of children around the world.

In all of our classrooms, children discuss and display their learning about rights and responsibilities. Through our newsletters we share with our parents/carers the rights and responsibilities we are all learning to better understand.
